Gaye aur Bakri Allama Iqbal

A Cow and a Goat (Adopted for Children)

Ik Makra aur Makhi Tashreeh in urdu

Aik Gaye aur Bakri (Bachon k liya)

Ek charagah heri bheri thi kahin
This sarapa bhar jis ki zameen

Kya saman us bahar ka ho bayan
Her taraf saaf nadiyan thi rawan

Thay anaron k be shumar darakht
Aur peepal ka sayadar darakh
t

Thandi thandi hawayen ati thin
Taeron ki sadden ati thin

Kisi nadi ke pas ek bakri
Charte charte kahin se a nikli

Jab theher ker idhar udhar dekha
Paas ek gaye ko khare paya

Phle jhuk ker ussay salam kiya
Pihir salike se yun kalama kiya

Kyun bari bi mazaj kaise hain
Gaye boli khair acha hain

Kat rahi hai buri bhali apni
Hai musibat mein zindagi apni

Jaan par a bani kya kahiye
Apni kismet buri hai kya kahiye

Dekhti ho Khuda ki shan ko mein
Ro rahi ho buron ki jan ko mein

Zor chalta nhi gareeba ka
Pesh aya likha naseebon ka

Admi se koi bhala na kare
Us se pala pare Khuda na kare

Doodh kam do to barbarata hai
Hun jo dubli to bach khata hai

Hathkandon se ghulam karta hai
Kin faarbon se ram karta hai

Us k bachon ka plati ho mein
Doodh se jan dalti ho mein

Badle naiki k ye burai hai
Mere Allah teri buhyi hai

Sun k bakri ye majra sara
Boli aesa gila nahi acha

Baat sachi hai be maza lagti
Mein kahun gi magar Khuda lagti

Ye charagh ye thandi thandi hawa
Ye hari ghaas aur ye saya

Aesi khushiyan humain naseeb kahan
Ye kahan be zuban gareeb kahan

Ye maze admi ke dam se hain
Lutf sare usi k dam se hain

Uss k dam se hai apni Abadi
Quid hum ko bhali k azadi

So tarah k hai banon mein hai khatka
Wan k guazran sa bachaye Khuda

Hum pe ehsaan hai bara us ka
Hum ko zaiba nahi gila us ka

Qadar aram ki agr samjho
Admi ka kabhi gila na karo

Gaye sun ker ye baat shermayi
Admi k gile se pachtai

Dil mein perkha bhala bura us ne
Aur kuch soch ker kaha us ne

Yun to chotti hai zaat bakri ki
Dil ko lagti hai bat bakri ki

A Cow and a Goat (Adopted for Children)

Poet Allam Iqbal

There was a verdant pasture somewhere
Whose land was the very picture of beauty

How can the beauty of that elegance be described
Brooks of sparking water running on very side

Many were the pomegranate trees
And so were the shady papal trees

Cool breeze flowed everywhere
Birds were singing everywhere

A goat arrived at a brooks bank from somewhere
It came browsing from somewhere in the nearby land

As she stopped and looked around
She noticed a cow standing by

The goat first presented her compliment to the cow
Then respectfully started this conversation

As she stopped and looked around
She noticed a cow standing by

The goat first presented her compliments to the cow
Then respectfully started this conversation

How are you Madam cow
The cow replied not too well

My life is mere existence
My life is a complete agony

My life in in danger what can I say
My luck is bad what can I say

I am surprised at the state of affairs
I am cursing the evil people

The poor ones like us are powerless
Misfortunes surround the one like us

None should nicely deal with man
My God protect us from man

He murmurs if my milk declines
He sells me if my weight decline

He subdues us with clevemess
Alluring he always subjugates us

I nurse his children with milk
I give them new life with milk

My goodness is repaid with evil
My prayer to Allah is for mercy

Having heard the cow’s story like this
The goat replied this complaint is unjust

Though truth is always bitter
I shall speak what is fair

This pasture and this cool breeze
This green grass and this shade

Such comfort were beyond our lot
They were a far cry for us speechless poor

We owe these pleasures to man
We owe all our happiness to man

We derive all our prosperity from him
What is better for us freedom or bondage to him

Hundreds of dangers lurk in the wilderness
May Allah protect us from the wilderness

We are heavily indebted to him
Unjust is our complaint against him

If you appreciate the life comforts
You would never complain against man

Hearing all this the cow felt embarrassed
She was sorry for complaining against man

She mused over the good and the bad
And thoughtfully she said this

Small though is the body of the goat
Convicing the advice of the goat
